Transport

- Ground public transport
Buses, trolley-buses and trams work 6°° a.m. to midnight. The fares are paid by tickets which can he bought from the conductor. You can also purchase a monthly card for a given type of transport, or a single card for all types of transport. Stops are marked with special signs in the city
Municipal taxies work round the clock. They are marked with a checkered design and the letter Т on the door. Taxi stops are also marked with the letter Т. You can hire a taxi at a stop, or just hail it by lifting a hand, provided the stop is permitted in that place. The fares are shown by the counter. Taxies can be ordered by phone round the clock. - Metro
The Metro of St. Petersburg consists of 4 lines with 58 stations The metro works from 5.45 a.m. till 12°° p.m. To ride the metro one has to buy a token that costs 7 rubles (is valid for the hole ride) or plastic card for 10 20 30 or 60 rides. Tokens and plastic cards are sold at all Metro stations.

- Coach station

Air communications
The Pulkovo Airport is one of the busiest in Russia. Its capacity is 12, 000, 000 passengers per year.

- Pulkovo-1
Internal flights and flights to the countries of the near abroad. The airport is located 18 km south of the center of St. Petersburg. You can reach the city by taxi, minibus, express bus or book transfer.

Rail transport
St. Petersburg has a broad network of rail transport. In St. Petersburg there are five railway stations that comprehensively provide for the needs of passengers and freight shippers. For the convenience of passengers there are new ticket offices equipped to the highest European standards, business-centers, cafes, restaurants, rest rooms and waiting rooms. All five stations are located on one metro line greatly easing the transfer process.

- Baltiysky railway station
Electric commuter trains to Gatchina, Luga, Oranienbaum, Peterhof, Kalishche, Krasnoflotsk.

- Vitebsky railway station

- Moscow railway station
Trains to Moscow ply from this station. Among them are some of the best trains in the country: "The Krasnaya Strela" ("The Red Arrow"), "The Aurora", "ER-200" express trains.
Other trains from here will take you to Adler, Akmola, Arkhangelsk, Bryansk, Volgograd, Vologda, Vorkuta, Voronezh, Eupatoria, Kazan, Murmansk, Novorossiysk, Omsk, Petrozavodsk, Samara, Saratov, Sevastopol, Kharkov, Chelyabinsk.
